Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt Herbicide SABAKEM-GLY-550 Sabakem

Description

Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt Herbicide – Non-Selective Annual and Perennial Weed Control

Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt Herbicide is a non-volatile, non-selective, water-soluble liquid herbicide containing 550 g/L glyphosate, present as the potassium and monoethanolamine salts. Manufactured by Sabakem Pty Ltd, this Group M (Group 9) herbicide targets a broad range of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds across agricultural and non-agricultural use situations, including crop pre-establishment, fallow programs, conservation tillage, domestic and commercial areas, forests, and tree and vine crops. It delivers systemic knockdown by absorbing through plant foliage and green stems, then moving throughout the plant to the root system.

Notably, Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt is inactivated on contact with clay and organic matter in the soil, providing no residual weed control after application. As a result, planting operations can proceed shortly after treatment in accordance with label directions. Initial visible effects on annual weeds appear within 3 to 7 days under normal conditions. Furthermore, perennial weeds may take 2 to 3 weeks to show full symptoms, particularly under cool or cloudy conditions.

Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt Herbicide – Frequently Asked Questions

Q.What weeds does Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt Herbicide control?

A.It controls a broad range of annual weeds, including ryegrass, capeweed, wild oats, barley grass, Paterson’s curse, and saffron thistle. Perennial weeds include kikuyu, couch, nutgrass, paspalum, Johnson grass, and phalaris. Refer to the full directions for use for the complete weeds controlled table.

Q.What are the standard application rates?

A.For domestic, commercial, and general farm situations, mix at 7 mL per litre of water. For boom spray programs, use 1.3 to 2 L/ha for annual weeds and 2.0 to 4.0 L/ha for perennial weeds. Handgun and knapsack rates are detailed on the product label.

Q.Does Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt provide residual weed control?

A.No. This product is inactivated on contact with soil and controls emerged weeds only. Repeat treatments manage later-germinating weeds. Additionally, tank mixing with a registered residual herbicide extends control where ongoing weed pressure requires it.

Q.Can I tank-mix this product with other herbicides or insecticides?

A.Yes. It is compatible with registered herbicides, including 2,4-D ester (LV Ester 680), dicamba (Nufarm Kamba 500), and trifluralin 480, as well as insecticides, including Lorsban 500 and Talstar. Always read and follow all label directions for each tank-mix product.

Q.What application equipment is registered for use with this product?

A.Boom sprayers, handguns, knapsacks, wiper equipment such as ropewick applicators, and aircraft are all registered for use. For boom application, a spray volume of 80 L/ha or less delivers optimum performance using medium to medium-coarse droplet size.

  5. Q Will Glyphosate 550 Twin-Salt Herbicide kill small trees and shrubs?
Asked by Bill on January 15, 2024 10:53 am
    Answered by the admin

In some situations, Glyphosate 550 Twin-Salt Herbicide will effectively kill small trees and shrubs. We recommend adding other herbicides to a tank mix to guarantee the best kill and make it more potent. These would include products such as Metsulfuron Methyl, Garlon or Grazon. We would also suggest the addition of a suitable wetting agent such as an organosilicone penetrant such as Consume or Eurochem Penetrant.

Tips For Use

Restraints:

  • Do not disturb weeds by cultivation, sowing, or grazing for six hours of daylight following treatment of annual weeds, and seven days for perennial weeds, to ensure full herbicide absorption.
  • Do not apply when wind speeds fall below 3 km/h or exceed 20 km/h.
  • Do not apply during surface temperature inversion conditions, which typically occur from one to two hours before sunset through to one to two hours after sunrise.
  • Do not treat weeds under poor growing conditions caused by moisture stress, waterlogging, severe frosting, or insect damage, as reduced performance will result.

Mixing Instructions:

  • Fill the spray tank one-third to one-half full with clean water and start agitation.
  • If adding ammonium sulphate, use at 2% v/v and mix thoroughly before adding other products.
  • If tank-mixing, add the other herbicide, insecticide, or additive to the spray tank first and mix thoroughly.
  • Add Sabakem Glyphosate 550 Twin Salt Herbicide and the remaining water, then mix thoroughly.
  • Add octyl phenol ethoxylate non-ionic surfactant near the end of the filling process, only where specifically directed on the label.
  • Maintain adequate agitation throughout application and use the tank mix promptly.
  • Do not mix, store, or apply this product in galvanised steel or unlined steel containers, as a highly flammable gas mixture may form. Use stainless steel, aluminium, fibreglass, plastic, or plastic-lined containers.

General Instructions:

  • Do not add surfactants, adjuvants, or other pesticides except as specifically directed on the label.
  • Rain within one hour of application that causes run-off may require re-treatment. Rainfastness is reduced if weeds are stressed or under low light conditions.
  • Apply to weeds with at least one true leaf (broadleaf weeds) or two leaves (grasses) to ensure an adequate surface area for uptake.
  • If heavy grazing has occurred, allow regrowth to 6 to 8 cm before spraying and apply the higher recommended rate.
  • Use spray solutions promptly, as herbicide activity may gradually decline over several days following spray preparation.

Compatibility:

  • Compatible with registered herbicides including LV Ester 680 (2,4-D ester), Nufarm Kamba 500 (dicamba), trifluralin 480, and others as listed on the label.
  • Compatible with insecticides including Lorsban 500, Talstar, Karate, and emulsifiable concentrates of dimethoate and fenitrothion. Other products not listed have not been tested.
  • In multiple-product tank mixes, a minimum water volume of 50 L/ha is recommended. Always seek local advice and ensure correct mixing order with adequate in-tank agitation.

Protection of Crops, Native and Other Non-Target Plants:

  • Avoid any contact with foliage, green stems, or fruit of crops, desirable plants, and trees, as severe damage or destruction may result.
  • Do not apply under weather conditions or from equipment likely to cause spray drift onto susceptible nearby plants, crops, or pastures.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans and the Environment:

  • Do not contaminate dams, rivers, or streams with the product or used containers.
  • Do not apply to weeds growing in or over water, and do not spray across open bodies of water.

Storage:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.
  • Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.
  • Triple rinse containers before disposal, and add rinsings to the spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site.

Safety Directions:

  • This product will irritate the eyes and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • When opening the container, preparing the spray, and using the prepared spray, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), a washable hat, elbow-length PVC or nitrile gloves, and a face shield or goggles.
  • If the product contacts skin, immediately wash the area with soap and water. If product contacts eyes, wash out immediately with water.
  • Wash your hands after use. After each day’s use, wash gloves, face shield or goggles, and contaminated clothing.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
  • For further information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
